New Favorite

Parker and I went to the dollar movie on Friday and saw Invictus and thought it was wonderful! Very inspiring. One of the songs from the movie has become a favorite for us and we listen to it over and over again, not only because it's good, but because it reminds us of the movie. :) It's called "Colorblind", by Overtone.

In other news, we had a fun weekend. We had a busy Saturday including:

Breakfast at our house with a couple of the guys on Parker team for work.

A big mid-term test for Maren.

BYU basketball game (which was AMAZING! so intense... and pretty disappointing when we lost. I really thought they were going to pull it off, but...)

The Utah Flash basketball game (that's right, 2 basketball games in one day) with FRONT ROW tickets. We were right there on the court where we could smell the sweaty guys. It was a fun experience, plus we got to have drinks (the best-ever italian sodas) during half-time upstairs in their special room. We're pretty much high class. Thank you Living Scriptures for the fun evening!

Grocery shopping at 11:00 pm. We needed milk.

I Love My Job!

I just need to mention how much I enjoy my job! I never thought it was actually possible to go to work and enjoy it. I work with wonderful people, (who are oh so patient when I ask a million questions a day) and in a great environment. Parker actually made a comment to me today that I'm always in a great mood after work... and it's true! Even though it takes a lot of time, I'm so glad I have such a wonderful job. :)

No Fretting!

As mentioned in the previous post, the Valentine's Day gifts did not arrive as planned, but sometimes it's fun to get packages for no reason at all, right? :) Parker and I had a wonderfully relaxing Valentine's Day and President's Day. We didn't do anything spectacular, but we relaxed at home together, made breakfast and dinner together, got caught up on house-hold chores together, watched the olympics together, you know, fun stuff like that. It was wonderfully relaxing.

It was great to have a break but now that I'm back into the work week I feel swamped! I don't know how people do it all, because I feel like I'm just doing the basics of work and school and I can't keep up. I've been trying to be better at time-management and using my time wisely and all that (Right now I was supposed to be writing a paper about whether or not there are adverse health effects to living near high voltage overhead power lines... if that's not fun, I don't know what is!) but it's hard when I feel worn out and want a little break (I have been on campus since 7:30 this morning and won't be home until 8:00 at the earliest... sometimes I feel justified in taking a break). Anyway, the point of this was not to complain about how busy my life is, but just explain how I'm trying to take one day at a time and take deep breaths and stop fretting. :) I really am blessed to have everything I do, and that's a great reminder for me to recognize that these stressors (getting an education and earning an income, among other things) are really a blessing. Isn't life wonderful!?

I Never Know...

I never know what to title my posts. I'll have to work on that.

It's been a while since I've posted anything, so here's a little update! We still like our house, and we're still not completely organized. We had a little bit of a set-back when I got the flu. I didn't do anything productive for about 4 days. When I got better, I went back to work where my hours have now doubled, so that gives me less time as well. Anyway, the point of this story is that things aren't quite in order, and that is why you have not seen pictures. :)

Story time: On Wednesday, I was still recovering from the plague, but since I'd gone to the doctor the day before and been told I probably wasn't contagious, I didn't feel too bad about going out in public. For that reason, I decided I was well enough to take my drug abuse test. I was a little worried I wouldn't do very well because I felt like I was out of the school mentality since I hadn't been to a class in 6 days, but I also just wanted to get it over with. When I sat down and got started on it I felt pretty good. I answered the essay questions, but on question two of the multiple choice portion I looked down and saw a little black spot on my wedding ring. I soon realized a diamond was GONE! What!? I'd only had my band for a month and a half(not my wedding ring, just the band that Parker gave me for our anniversary in Dec.) and already it was falling apart (ok, maybe that thought was a little dramatic)! Sad day! Through the whole remainder of the test I tried to concentrate on the questions, but half the time I was trying to think of what I did that could have knocked it loose or where it could be and wondering if the jeweler would replace it. ??? Periodically I would look at the carpet around me to see if I saw a sparkle (while thinking, "this is rediculous, there's no way I'm going to find it here!"). I was pleasantly surprised when I ended up with a 92% on the test, and we took my ring to get fixed without any problems, thank goodness for the warrenty. (This story is way longer than it ought to be... sorry 'bout that) Essentially, I realized a diamond fell out of my ring while I was taking a test and I was very distressed, but everything was ok in the end. It caused quite and uproar in my life so I had to give you all the details. :)

Lastly, let's talk about Valentine's Day. It's in 2 days, and I'm fretting because a couple of items I ordered online for Parker have not yet arrived... sigh. It's not the end of the world. Everything will be ok. Parker will still love me, because he's great like that. :)
